Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch therapy that gently reaches deep into the nervous system and eloquently connects with the healing intelligence residing there. With a approach that can range from superficial touch into the deep systems of the body with intention and fine tuned listening skills, a seasoned Craniosacral Therapist can help clients to reconnect to their core balance and a place of deep relaxation and restoration.
How does a Craniosacral Session look?
Clients do best to wear comfortable soft clothes. If the session is purely Craniosacral Therapy, clothes will stay on and it is easiest to receive the work without too many layers. Once on the table, the therapist will go to different areas of the body listening to the craniosacral rhythm for quality, symmetry, rate and amplitude. When an area is identified as the starting place, the Craniosacral Therapist will take into account the whole body and how the client's systems are connecting and dialoguing with each other and the practitioner. In the most simple way, the body's own intelligence will lead the therapist to what needs to happen next in order for the client to reorient and re-educate the body back to health and wellbeing. Toward the end of the session, the Craniosacral Therapist will work around the head and sometimes the mouth in order to release any restrictions or dysfunction within the cranium. This feels so soothing and quieting that people may fall asleep. Most people walk away with a deep calm and yet the change continues for days and sometimes weeks.
