Looking for some gentle hands to bring about profound change?

Find out more about Craniosacral Therapy (CST) by calling 703 509-1792

Sharon Hartnett CST-D has been practicing manual bodywork for close to 30 years.  In the last 15 years, she has focused primarily on the light touch work taught by Dr. John Upledger, called Craniosacral Therapy.

The great thing about CST is that the touch is so gentle, that the body does not go into any type of defensive pattern when touched.  And because the therapist is listening to the fluids and the tissues,  the work can go deep without the usual pain that is associated with deep tissue work. Yet, the results are just the same, if not better.  The impact of CST is profound.  It enhances the function of the central nervous system (CNS) with self-correcting nourishing action.

You may wonder why the CNS is so important.  Well, when the brain and the spine are working optimally, all the information that supports the body does as well.  For example,  along the spine, if one of the nerves exiting is compressed, it can diminish the ability of that part of the body from doing its work efficiently.  It can bring about pain, and imbalances.  By releasing the fascia and other tissues from around a nerve, we can help the body to come back into favorable function.

Craniosacral Therapy is a specialty type of massage therapy.  If you are looking for help for pain relief, headaches, fibromyalgia or such- this may be the road to wellness.  You can find an Upledger Therapist at:  www.upledger.com .  I always recommend that you look for someone who is either Certified at the Diplomate Level, or if not, the Techniques.  That means you have a Therapist who has gone through extensive training and testing to help you on your healing journey.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 740 966-5151 for a free 15 minute consult if you are local to Columbus.  If I can help you find the best match elsewhere, I will do that too.

Blessing on the Pathway to Wellbeing.

Happiness

Are you trying to find Happiness Out in the World?

It's a bit difficult to stay happy if you are searching for it outside.  Have you ever noticed that when you set a goal, and you reach it, that awave of joy washes over you.  Your thoughts are happy, the things you notice seem bright, and the body hums.  It's great when things are going your way.  But what happens next?

Well, if you take the time to consider this, you will realize that that happiness you found in your outer world was only temporary.

Yikes.  All that hard work, planning, hoping and searching.  And where did it get you?  A few moments, days or weeks of feeling happy, and then down you go off of that cloud.

I don't want to rain on your parade here.  It's fun to experience life's waves and the pleasure that ebbs and flow.  But to fully invest in the future or in achieving success or such is short-term.  True joy begins by noticing all the things that don't bring you joy.  And as we begin to inquire into our relationships with goals,  and our mind opens- we begin to see that all these temporary things fall away on their own accord.  The best way to find joy is to appreciate what IS... and to let go as that wave diminishes.  Appreciating what is right in front of us and around of us is exciting and bliss.  Why because we are alive and everything is working together just as it is.

Our addictions and wants take us away from gratitude and fullness.

The easiest way to find freedom is to start to see this.  And then to begin to question the world in which you live whenever there is anything that takes you away from joy.

But don't trust me.  Trust your own answers when you begin your inquiry.  Allow Divine Truth to open your mind and heart.   Ask and listen.  It's all right here in the NOW.

Peace Out,

Sharon Hartnett LMT, CST-D, SI, BHSP

Discovering Fascia

Fascia is the key element that connects and holds everything together in the human body.
For most of us, we have learned to understand that all the muscles, organs, tissues, blood vessels, and nerves are isolated structures, but in fact, they are not.  Everything in the human body is in contact either directly or indirectly with itself and the other.  What makes this possible is the incredible presence of this fascia which is an intricate web that envelops, sheaths, and integrates with the ability to create a powerfully, well aligned body.

Fascia is a postural organ, that only now are we discovering its powerful and integrative nature.  If you are feeling imbalanced or any type of pain, look to the fascia as a doorway to fining more order, easy and freedom in your movement and rest.  When an experienced therapist works with you, they will be able to support your body’s ability to let go of habitual patterning, break down adhesions, knots and discord.  What’s great about this work verses a typical massage is that the benefits are much more long lasting and can show dramatic results immediately.

During a typical 10 series with Structural Integration therapy, fascia is manipulated to help your tissues differentiate and length to free up the extrinsic sleeve, while the following into the deeper core in various planes.  You’ll be surprised how much better you will feel.  More recently, I have moved from doing the deeper work into a light touch Craniosacral type of work.  I have found by listening to the body’s dialoguing mechanisms, that when the body doesn’t fight the touch, there is more release.

Below, look at this image of fascia.  It helps you see how it connects.

Perhaps you have seen this while preparing chicken for dinner?

But no worries.  When you are the table,  you will feel changes and shifts and your body lets go and your body revitalizes.

Nothing feels better than to find deep relaxation and opening up the body into optimal functioning.

Next time you are thinking about finding pain relief,  ask your local therapist about fascial massage!

Concussions

Are you dealing with Concussion Symptoms that won't heal?

Perhaps it's not visible to others, but when you have not regained clear thinking and balance after a concussion, the impact can challenge you in your day to day activities.  Some of the symptoms you may be experiencing are:  lacking of focus, forgetfulness, dizziness, ringing in the ears, nausea, fogginess, feeling slowed down, feeling tired, and emotionally upset or frustrated just to name a few.

                                                Lighten Up Therapies 740 966-5153

The first thing that you need to do is see a doctor, and do your best to follow his/her orders.  If the symptoms don't go away,  you  might want to consider seeing a Craniosacral Therapist.  Especially one who has worked with concussions and has seen improvement.

I have been doing bodywork with clients for over 20 years.  In the last 10 years,  I have delved and applied myself to Craniosacral Therapy specifically because I have found significant results with the most mild and intentional type of touch.  By listening to the body, and trusting its inner wisdom, the Craniosacral Rhythm, lets the Craniosacral Therapist know if there are any restrictions or adhesions around the brain and spine.  This is important because all the way from the dura mater to deeper in the glial interface with the brain,  a practitioner can listen to the different layers of the dural tube and apply supportive biomechanical pressure to help the body self-correct.  In fact,  by understanding the anatomy and through dialogue, we can help the body to be structurally healthy, as well as better functionally.

Because I was so interested in Brain Trauma (concussions),  I have done some case studies, and seen great improvement in all aspects.  The Craniosacral Therapy has profound corrective effects upon the brain and the spinal cord.  Last year,  my client came in with fogginess, an inability to learn new things, light sensitive and a feeling of disconnection in her brain.  By listening to her body, I realized that is was just in the head,  but the fascial patterns took me to her hips, her spine, and even her foot where she tripped.  By bringing better order in, and creating a space for more fluidity, she eventually healed so that she is now living her dream.

If you would like to learn more, please call Sharon Hartnett 740 966-5153.  I don't guarantee results as the body does what it does, but I do guarantee that I will support you on your journey if we agree to work together.  I will honestly say, that I have seen miracles happen.  So don't give up.  Instead reach out for some help!

Blessings,
