Looking for some gentle hands to bring about profound change?

Find out more about Craniosacral Therapy (CST) by calling 614 653-8111

Sharon Hartnett CST-D has been practicing manual bodywork for close to 30 years.  In the last 15 years, she has focused primarily on the light touch work taught by Dr. John Upledger, called Craniosacral Therapy.

The great thing about CST is that the touch is so gentle, that the body does not go into any type of defensive pattern when touched.  And because the therapist is listening to the fluids and the tissues,  the work can go deep without the usual pain that is associated with deep tissue work. Yet, the results are just the same, if not better.  The impact of CST is profound.  It enhances the function of the central nervous system (CNS) with self-correcting nourishing action.

You may wonder why the CNS is so important.  Well, when the brain and the spine are working optimally, all the information that supports the body does as well.  For example,  along the spine, if one of the nerves exiting is compressed, it can diminish the ability of that part of the body from doing its work efficiently.  It can bring about pain, and imbalances.  By releasing the fascia and other tissues from around a nerve, we can help the body to come back into favorable function.

Craniosacral Therapy is a specialty type of massage therapy.  If you are looking for help for pain relief, headaches, fibromyalgia or such- this may be the road to wellness.  You can find an Upledger Therapist at:  www.upledger.com .  I always recommend that you look for someone who is either Certified at the Diplomate Level, or if not, the Techniques.  That means you have a Therapist who has gone through extensive training and testing to help you on your healing journey.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 740 966-5151 for a free 15 minute consult if you are local to Columbus.  If I can help you find the best match elsewhere, I will do that too.

Blessing on the Pathway to Wellbeing.

Happiness

Are you trying to find Happiness Out in the World?

It's a bit difficult to stay happy if you are searching for it outside.  Have you ever noticed that when you set a goal, and you reach it, that awave of joy washes over you.  Your thoughts are happy, the things you notice seem bright, and the body hums.  It's great when things are going your way.  But what happens next?

Well, if you take the time to consider this, you will realize that that happiness you found in your outer world was only temporary.

Yikes.  All that hard work, planning, hoping and searching.  And where did it get you?  A few moments, days or weeks of feeling happy, and then down you go off of that cloud.

I don't want to rain on your parade here.  It's fun to experience life's waves and the pleasure that ebbs and flow.  But to fully invest in the future or in achieving success or such is short-term.  True joy begins by noticing all the things that don't bring you joy.  And as we begin to inquire into our relationships with goals,  and our mind opens- we begin to see that all these temporary things fall away on their own accord.  The best way to find joy is to appreciate what IS... and to let go as that wave diminishes.  Appreciating what is right in front of us and around of us is exciting and bliss.  Why because we are alive and everything is working together just as it is.

Our addictions and wants take us away from gratitude and fullness.

The easiest way to find freedom is to start to see this.  And then to begin to question the world in which you live whenever there is anything that takes you away from joy.

But don't trust me.  Trust your own answers when you begin your inquiry.  Allow Divine Truth to open your mind and heart.   Ask and listen.  It's all right here in the NOW.

Peace Out,

Sharon Hartnett LMT, CST-D, SI, BHSP

Discovering Fascia

Fascia is the key element that connects and holds everything together in the human body.
For most of us, we have learned to understand that all the muscles, organs, tissues, blood vessels, and nerves are isolated structures, but in fact, they are not.  Everything in the human body is in contact either directly or indirectly with itself and the other.  What makes this possible is the incredible presence of this fascia which is an intricate web that envelops, sheaths, and integrates with the ability to create a powerfully, well aligned body.
Fascia is a postural organ, that only now are we discovering its powerful and integrative nature.  If you are feeling imbalanced or any type of pain, look to the fascia as a doorway to fining more order, easy and freedom in your movement and rest.  When an experienced therapist works with you, they will be able to support your body’s ability to let go of habitual patterning, break down adhesions, knots and discord.  What’s great about this work verses a typical massage is that the benefits are much more long lasting and can show dramatic results immediately.
During a typical 10 series with Structural Integration therapy, fascia is manipulated to help your tissues differentiate and length to free up the extrinsic sleeve, while the following into the deeper core in various planes.  You’ll be surprised how much better you will feel.  More recently, I have moved from doing the deeper work into a light touch Craniosacral type of work.  I have found by listening to the body’s dialoguing mechanisms, that when the body doesn’t fight the touch, there is more release.

Below, look at this image of fascia.  It helps you see how it connects.

Perhaps you have seen this while preparing chicken for dinner?

But no worries.  When you are the table,  you will feel changes and shifts and your body lets go and your body revitalizes.

Nothing feels better than to find deep relaxation and opening up the body into optimal functioning.

Next time you are thinking about finding pain relief,  ask your local therapist about fascial massage!

Concussions

Are you dealing with Concussion Symptoms that won't heal?

Perhaps it's not visible to others, but when you have not regained clear thinking and balance after a concussion, the impact can challenge you in your day to day activities.  Some of the symptoms you may be experiencing are:  lacking of focus, forgetfulness, dizziness, ringing in the ears, nausea, fogginess, feeling slowed down, feeling tired, and emotionally upset or frustrated just to name a few.

                                                Lighten Up Therapies 740 966-5153

The first thing that you need to do is see a doctor, and do your best to follow his/her orders.  If the symptoms don't go away,  you  might want to consider seeing a Craniosacral Therapist.  Especially one who has worked with concussions and has seen improvement.

I have been doing bodywork with clients for over 20 years.  In the last 10 years,  I have delved and applied myself to Craniosacral Therapy specifically because I have found significant results with the most mild and intentional type of touch.  By listening to the body, and trusting its inner wisdom, the Craniosacral Rhythm, lets the Craniosacral Therapist know if there are any restrictions or adhesions around the brain and spine.  This is important because all the way from the dura mater to deeper in the glial interface with the brain,  a practitioner can listen to the different layers of the dural tube and apply supportive biomechanical pressure to help the body self-correct.  In fact,  by understanding the anatomy and through dialogue, we can help the body to be structurally healthy, as well as better functionally.

Because I was so interested in Brain Trauma (concussions),  I have done some case studies, and seen great improvement in all aspects.  The Craniosacral Therapy has profound corrective effects upon the brain and the spinal cord.  Last year,  my client came in with fogginess, an inability to learn new things, light sensitive and a feeling of disconnection in her brain.  By listening to her body, I realized that is was just in the head,  but the fascial patterns took me to her hips, her spine, and even her foot where she tripped.  By bringing better order in, and creating a space for more fluidity, she eventually healed so that she is now living her dream.

If you would like to learn more, please call Sharon Hartnett 740 966-5153.  I don't guarantee results as the body does what it does, but I do guarantee that I will support you on your journey if we agree to work together.  I will honestly say, that I have seen miracles happen.  So don't give up.  Instead reach out for some help!

Blessings,

Sharon Hartnett CST-D

Rotator Cuff Pain? Try Craniosacral Therapy!

The three most common rotator cuff problems are:  tendinous, tendinitis, and tearing.

If you are experiencing rotator inflammation or pain,  you might want to learn a little bit more about this condition.  Let's start by explaining that the four muscles included in the rotator cuff group are: supraspinatus, infraspinatus, trees minor and subscapularis.  The primary job of these muscles in relationship to the glenohumeral joint is stability although they do have individual functions as well.

Often the cause of rotator cuff issues is overuse or an injury.   Medically, there are some different approaches for healing that your physician may suggest:  medications, platelet rich plasma injections or massage therapy.  If you aren't finding the solution you are looking for in the first two,  you might want to try Craniosacral Therapy.   Because Craniosacral Therapy is so gentle, even people in extreme pain seem to manage with this light touch massage therapy well.

By listening for fascial restrictions around the body, and specifically around the glenhumeral joint, a therapist can help release restrictions and adhesions by following and working with the Craniosacral Rhythm.

As the fascia layers release around the four muscles, more circulation, lymphatic flow and hydration can support the body's own healing mechanism to self-correct.

In addition to the massage, it is also important to become more mindful around movement patterns.  Be gentle and kind with micro movements as much as you can. If it is necessary to do repetitive things during the day for work,  take some extra time to move in other planes to balance muscles groups.

If you are suffering from rotator cuff pain,  it may take some time to heal.  Be patient, and focus on self-care!  Stay in touch with your physician to let him know of your progress.

Craniosacral Therapy and Anxiety

Everyday is a new experience.  But some days, for some people,  anxiety can be severe.  When feelings of anxiety take over, the quality of life can take a downward spiral.

What can help a person experiencing Anxiety?

Most people find very good experiences with psychotherapy when they are dealing with anxiety.  It can be very helpful. However,  many people have also started to find wonderful benefits through touch.  Ideally-  when working with both a trained psychotherapist and a Craniosacral Therapist in combination,  clients can often find real progress. This is because the client has the opportunity to talk through their thinking processes, yet also have the opportunity to feel their body relax.  The mind body & spirit connection can not be underrated.  By simply interrupting the stress components of daily life, a person can take a moment to let go enough to remember health and how that feels.  When we have a source of such remembering,  it's also possible to make new choices in life.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)  is a gentle and un-intrusive type of massage (or better stated- type of bodywork) that works directly with the Central Nervous system.  By using a very light touch to meld and listen to the rhythm of the Craniosacral Fluid, the Craniosacral Therapist can help the body to let go of rotations, adhesions in the fascia and such that keep the body stressed.   Below is a picture of just how widespread the nervous system is.  By looking at the connections, it is easy to see how touching and releasing any problem areas can also affect the rest of the body.

On a personal note,  whether it be massage therapy or a specialized type of work such as Craniosacral Therapy,  clients who come into a professional and quiet space to get in touch with mindfulness and quiet with kind touch, mostly walk away feeling much more quiet and at peace from my experience as a Massage Therapist for over 17 years.  The body, mind & spirit are relaxing and a holistic approach to wellness teaches the brain new patterns of health.

Craniosacral Therapy Study Group Columbus Ohio

This last Sunday, we just had our Craniosacral Study Group on the Farm at my home.  It was so much fun.

One of the best things about getting together is that we get to practice and learn from each other.  While I am the Study Group Leader, I am always amazed and how much good even the beginner practitioners do with their basic knowledge.   Because most of them do other types of manual therapies, they seem to have a real knack for touch before attempting to study this curriculum.  With background studies at the Upledger,  they all are at least learning the 10 step protocol and how to meld with the body while holding space for the body's own intelligence to self-correct.  So even with the first CST level, one can expect some nice changes.  However, by attending more classes and study groups, they have the advantage of getting multi-hand work themselves, and also partner with more seasoned therapists to work with for confirmation.

Massage Therapists know that continuing to learn from others is a great way to improve our work with our clients and to enhance our practice.

I feel so blessed to be able to offer this type of work for my clients, and am thrilled to be in Columbus  now in a community of Craniosacral Therapists who enjoy this modality and are bringing it out to the community.

Craniosacral the Community Way

Are you looking for a Craniosacral healing program that is comprehensive?

I just returned home after a wonderful few days in Selma, Indiana working with an incredible group of clients and Craniosacral Therapists.

There were 12 clients who signed up for this transformational journey, along with over 30+ therapists.

Integrative Intentions  holds these programs across the world.  Fortunately for me, I have participated in intensives in the Bahamas with dolphins, on the farms in Indiana, and Truth or Consequences out west.  Wherever the locations, the programs support profound change and are in service to health and wellbeing.

This last program in particular was quite touching.  Working with people who care so much about service and deepening into life and expression was so heartwarming.  We worked on the tables in groups, visited the horses for some self-discovery therapy, and jumped into the pool for some water therapy.  Each day I could see people getting brighter and brighter, finding insights and releasing pain.

What job could be better?

If you are looking for that chance to really change your life,  check into these wonderful Craniosacral Therapy based programs.

I have been very honored to work there!  And I recommend them highly.

Headache Relief in Columbus Ohio

Are you looking for headache relief to no avail?

Millions of people suffer from headaches each year. Massage therapy can be extremely useful in reducing the intensity and frequency of headaches with possibly eliminating them altogether.

Understanding why you feel so much stress acts up in this area:

First it is important to recognize the simple fact that the neck carries the head which weighs 10-11 pounds in an adult.   That's a lot of work!  Next, take into consideration the balancing act between the suboccipitals and the jaw muscles.  With the constant push-pull action, things can get pulled out of alignment with repetitive or extreme movement.  Stress, habitually holding patterns, and things like hormonal imbalances can bring a headache on.

Treatments:

  1. One of the most crucial areas that feels painful during headaches is under the back of the skull.  When certain trigger points in this area is massaged,  all that tension dissolves and changes your whole outlook on life.  It's often that kind of pain that feels great because you can feel it melting away.  Clients love having this area released.
  2. Craniosacral Therapy works with the myofascial restrictions within the cranium and along the spine primarily.  However, by working with the rhythm throughout the whole body by listening and balancing,  pain often disappears easily.  Craniosacral Therapy can be taught to clients too so they can use these practices at home as soon as a headache appears.  For example, pulling the ears gently lateral and posterior may help release the temporal bones, easing the headache.
  3. Posture is a big deal when it comes to headaches.  If your feet are not under you in alignment, or the hips are rotated,  whatever the torsion or dysfunction is in the body-  eventually that impacts everything.  Often people want to come in for a quick fix, but there are usually long term structural issues that need to be addressed as a whole protocol to bring longer lasting natural movement back.  Structural Integration based on the fascia produces dramatic change and transforms painful posture into a stronger more vibrant way of movement.
If you are prone to headaches, it's important to speak to your physician.  However,  it's also beneficial to look at the whole picture.  It often takes a holistic approach to heal as we are more than the segments that make us up!

Have You Contracted with Pain?

Have you ever noticed that pain starts to disappear when you are "Being" in the moment rather than basing your life on the past or future fears?

One of my teachers from the past, Donna Evans-Strauss, used to talk about a "negative love bond" a concept that really struck a cord with me.  How I understood that to mean was that we connect through our essence to something that we experience as distortion. Yet the shadow glows just enough  that truth is lost and we begin to identify with the veiled lie.  Because we are lost in the notion of separation and isolation in this world, we long so deeply to be connected, and we can take on the illusion of that relationship, even if it takes us away from the very real and direct connection of God that already exists.  I see this in so many places.  An example might be teenagers who fall in love, and the boyfriend starts to verbally abuse.  The girls allows this to go on in the name of "love".  Well, love, or rather our belief in what love is, takes on many shades.  If we actually want to know what love is unconditionally, we have to learn to become more objective and curious in our experiences and remove our invisible adhesions to that which does not serve our highest good.  We have to learn to let go of even the things we hold most loyally in the name of the One God.

One of the prayers that I like that is helpful is based on something I read in another blog,  that revokes any agreements that have kept us unconscious.  This prayer says, " I revoke all agreements to experience hardship, limitation, bad relationships, health problems, financial problems, family dysfunctions and anything else in my life that is energy draining."

In addition,  when we find ourselves in stress and pain, it is healthy to question what we are believing.  Everything we believe has been taught.  And it is time for us to think for ourselves and find freedom by actually connecting to Source itself rather than what other people think and say.   For this type of inquiry,  I recommend,  Byron Katie 's site.  She offers free worksheets to help you to disengage from your story and align with Truth.

Also,  if you want to learn how to "Be" more full present in YOUR LIFE,  connect to that which feels nurturing and abundant in your life.  Look towards nature to teach you about love and kindness.  It is always found there.  Create a Sacred environment that is accepting, clear and heartfelt where you live and work.  Put yourself in to friendships that are peaceful and open.  Let go, and Let God.

My thoughts for the day.  What are yours?

Dizzy

I get so many clients who are dizzy who find no resolution.

Craniosacral Therapy can be very helpful, but I did find something new on the internet that I want to share with you.

Check out:  http://denver.cbslocal.com/2012/04/23/colorado-doctor-finds-way-to-treat-common-vertigo/

It is a simple maneuver which encompasses bending forward as if around a basketball, and then quickly come back when dizzy.

For those of you who have vertigo....Let me know if you try this and you find it helpful.  I am always curious on what works best.

Listen and Follow with Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

One of the reasons why I began to study Craniosacral Therapy (CST)) years ago was that when I went for my first sessions,  I felt so held, and cared for while experiencing profound change down to my cells.

I was used to Structural Integration and Barbara Brennan work, and this felt like it was a great "in between".  It wasn't an assertive type of work, but rather a modality of listening while connecting to the rhythms and the silence where a meeting of mind body & soul connection took place.

Now that I am an Advanced Certified Craniosacral Therapist,  one of my passions is educating people about the many benefits of this type of therapy.

Many of the clients that come into my office are looking for help with Migraines, Lower Back Pain, Post-surgery neck pain, fibromyalgia, stress, emotional release, and spine alignment.  There are many other types of areas where CST can help, but this seems to be my draw.  How the Craniosacral Therapy works is by addressing adhesions, restrictions and compression in the cranium and along the spine.  By listening to the fascial diaphragms and movements of the fluid and bones, the wisdom of the body offers great information about what it needs to heal.  As the information is received, the therapist supports whatever wants to happen generally without force or any type of control.  Rather, the intention is to "BE" with whatever comes, whatever stops, and whatever goes."  This is the simplest explanation, but there is much more.  A professional Craniosacral Therapist understands the anatomy and the physiology of the Craniosacral system.  We know how to test it for flexion and extension, amplitude, quality, rate and different characteristics which affect the overall health of the nervous systems, and everything that is connected throughout.  In most cases, the therapist uses about a nickels worth of weight when starting the session and pretty much throughout the whole process.

Often when clients get off the table, they tell me that they feel lighter, happier, more relaxed and sometimes even floating.  It's amazing that when pain patterns are released how the whole person dynamic is positively changed.

Craniosacral Therapy is very gentle, yet profound work.  Give yourself a few sessions to see how it will change your life.  Remember that whatever is not working for you took some time to get that way, and that healing needs to unleash it's own power to come back to center.

What is Visceral Manipulation?

Visceral Manipulation is focused on restoring the health of organ movement while enhancing functionality.

Based on the Work of Dr. Jean-Piere Barral, a therapist who practices Visceral Manipulation manually listens to the body to feel for primary tension patterns.  At first the hands are placed on the head in order to follow any strains, rotations or restrictions downward.  As the general listening continues, one is directed more into a local listening to be able to find areas for the more detailed work.

Once the area of dysfunction is discovered, techniques are used to bring harmony back to the original organs and also with their relationship to the rest of the visceral system and nearby structures.  This is done by working with mobility (releasing and adhesions and supporting free movement), and by touching into the inherent motility and encouraging natural motion.

A session is done with very light touch working mostly through the connective tissue that encases the organs such as the kidneys, livers, intestines etc... By releasing restrictions, the organs can return back to the job that were created for by not having to work so hard.  Visceral Manipulation usually takes a shorter time than with other types of massage and bodywork, so it can easily be incorporated into other types of therapy.

Because the Barral Institute is linked with the Upledger Institute,  often one will find practitioners who will add the visceral work into a Craniosacral Therapy Session. They both include listening and following rhythms, are based on listening and applying gentle manipulations, and can be done with clothes on.  Both are built on the foundation of osteopathic medicine.

Structural Integration Columbus Ohio

Generally this is a Craniosacral Blog.  But I also work doing Structural Integration Therapy which is a more active type of massage therapy that focuses on the fascia. Lately,  I have been hearing the question,  "What is the difference between Rolfing and Structural Integration"?  So I decided to clarify it for those of you who have questions...

The Rolf Institute was created in 1971 to promote and educate people about the work of Dr. Ida Rolf.  The focus of her manual hands on fascia work is based on bringing balance and optimal functionality back to the body by working with the weblike connective tissues that contains all the living structures in your body.  The main benefit of this therapy from my perspective is that the Rolfing brings the body back into more natural alignment, thereby making it easier to move in relationship to gravity. This work helps people to feel more flexible longterm, more energized, and generally happier with how they feel both internally and in relationship with their environment after a 10 series.  The Rolf Institute is located in Boulder, Colorado.

As with most successful things,  students of Ida Rolf began to develop new ideas and concepts and began to branch off into different schools of thought.  One of the most well known fascial leaders at the moment is Tom Myers.  He has been in the forefront of research, evolving his own concepts and understanding while educating the public about this fabulous work.  His link can be found at: Anatomy Trains if you would like to find out more.  However,  I would be remiss if I did not mention that there are other schools and teachers that hold high standards and quality education as well.  All of these newer schools fall under "Structural Integration" because they can't use the "Rolfing" name because that name is registered to the "Rolf Institute".  Some of these schools adhere to the original 10 series by Ida Rolf, but others have changed.  From my perspective, it's not about where the therapist went to school though-  you want to interview your potential therapist about experience and check referrals or testimonials to get feedback on the expertise he/she has in this field.  Good questions to ask maybe:

  • How long have you been working?
  • Do you work with layering?
  • Do you have any recommendations online or whom I can contact?
  • How is this work different than typical massage?
  • How long are your sessions?
Structural Integration is a great way to get your body feeling at its best.  Most clients love the work and feel a real shift after completing the series.  To be honest,  it's not always the easiest massage to receive because it addresses functional and pain areas.  But if clients are willing to feel deeply within, they usually walk away wondering where the  pain went and in wonder that they can feel so much better.

Lower Back Pain

Lower Back Pain is very common.

But that doesn't diminish the fact that it can keep you in bed in pain, unable to move for hours or days.

If you are experiencing the following symptoms,  please see a physician to keep your back healthy:

1.  Difficult time standing or moving around.
2.  Pain that is chronic or acute in the lower back and gluteal area.
3.  Muscle Spasms

Muscles strain, disc issues and accidents are usually the cause for lower back pain. If you are experiencing inflammation,  relax and follow your doctors instructions. However,  when the symptoms quiet down, Craniosacral Therapy and Structural Integration are excellent modalities of healing that can help you to feel better. This is done by releasing restrictions in the fascia and in the Craniosacral System.  When the adhesions dissolve, the body can go back into natural alignment, freeing up your energy and balancing your nervous system.

There is no need to suffer and stay in pain.

If you are interested in finding out more about relieving lower back pain, call Sharon Hartnett LMT at (614) 372-6598.

Namaste: Hands of Light Massage Therapy in Columbus Ohio

Namaste:  An ancient Sanskrit greeting which recognizes the light in my heart as connected to yours...

There are two types of Massage in my opinion:
  1. The feel good, fall asleep type of massage.  Great for people who just want to relax.
  2. Therapeutic Massage which leads to deep inner healing and health.
Both are wonderful and can be very beneficial to the Mind, Body, & Spirit Connection.

The real difference is the relationship that is built between the Massage Therapist and the client, even in just an hour. If the Massage Therapist is very present and in a state of listening, the person on the table can feel the quality of touch and contact. This is the Namaste connection. Not only are the tissues touched and manipulated, but the client also feels the dance between the Hands of Light and the Spirit within. When the two people feel this special linkage, something magical happens.  No words can describe it. It's like a knowing which enlightens from the inward awakening.

Life can seem so short at times. Like we are tiny dots in this huge Universe. However, if we are to find real value in our lives,  finding our way home means to travel inward. The richness there can help you to feel whole and complete.

Craniosacral and Meditation

One of the reasons why I embraced Craniosacral Therapy was that it has helped me to come more fully into a living meditation.

For a long time, being a constant thinker, it was difficult to quiet down my mind.  During a yoga class, the instructor would leave some time for silence and my chatter continued.  If I was in a in a Meditation group or at the BBSH school, the same thing would happen.  I would observe everyone quiet and emanating more with joy and healthy expression, and I'd be jumping from one thought to the next.  No empty space for me!

Fortunately, when I began to see my first Craniosacral Therapist,  mindful touch techniques and presence began to help me to relax and release old thoughts.  My body felt more enlivened and vital, yet with that tranquil sense of peace without stress.  It was a great relief to quiet down and empty out all the things that were not so relevant.   Progressively, my nervous system changed from anxious to calm. Something that definitely helped me and I knew could help others.

Being a believer in offering what I have learned... I started my own Craniosacral Therapy study and practice about 10 years ago.  Currently, as a Massage Therapist and Certified Advanced Craniosacral Therapist through the Upledger Institute, I have now worked with many people, helping them in the way that I appreciated being supported.  With this work, people genuinely experience new ways of living that help them come more to center and balance, yet feeling energized and generally more positive.  Moving away from pain and stress can change an outlook very easily!

Craniosacral Therapy can be helpful for ADHD,  although it takes commitment to accept the work:), headaches and migraines, fibromyalgia, neck and back pain, digestive issues, nervous system disorders and so much more.  It works with the body's fundamental ability to self-correct and heal on its own.  It is very light touch, but its' profound effects can transform a stressful state, whether physically or emotionally, into a lighter and optimized way of living.

Moving from Story to Quiet with Stillpoint

Craniosacral Therapy Stillpoint: A Quiet Place

From the moment we wake up in the morning, to the time we close our eyes at night... our sense of Self is for the most part, identified with thinking and belief systems that affect our health.

Of course, thinking is an integral  part of living, building and creating, but it can often be brought out of balance by the extreme demands in life.  When we identify with our outer world relationships, we have a choice to respond from a place of equilibrium or polarity.  What determines our reactions is the shape of the world in which our mind is set.  If we have learned to engage in a certain way throughout our lives,  layered habitual patterns will set the template of what our life sees, feels, and looks like. When we live in these preconceived ideas of reality, it is sometimes difficult to accept what is truly in the present.  And living out of harmony in the past or future can be very stressful.  It can make it difficult to be in the truth of the moment.  It can affect our health in so many negative ways. When we are anywhere else besides being with what is.... we are at odds.

It is when we have the chance to wake up to the realization that our "story is created by us" and that we are indeed responsible for creating and co-creating in the theaters of our mind, that we begin to free up and live more vitally.  Stress leaves, and our Presence expands.

One of the things that can help people to move out of the story and into essence is to have the body's sensory input shift with a Craniosacral Therapy Session.  Often, when clients, come in to my office, they are upset, not feeling well, in pain, stressed out and basically feeling out of whack.  One of the first and best things I do at the beginning of a session is to help the body go into a Stillpoint .   It is the easiest thing I have found to help people to calm down from mind chatter and to allow the body to relax and therapeutically self-correct.  An intervention into the craniosacral system with the merging of the therapist and the client with a small manual movement stirs the consciousness into rippling waves of unfolding and reconnection on so many levels of the physiology, as well as the mind and spirit.

Clients often describe it as: there is a certain point where the brain seems to just empty and let go of all the stress and tension.  It's quiet and rich.

I find that it is in these quiet places that our whole world can change.

Reality is Reality~

Releasing Pain

Craniosacral Therapy

If you want to let go of a painful condition in life, it is necessary to commit to the journey of releasing, asking for help and finding the beauty in the experience.

It may be a person who comes to your aid, but maybe not- what's key is to allow something in other than what is already in your "enclosed system". New information needs to be able to enter the pain state for transformation.

Healing can best happen when there is intention and/or grace is allowed. One of the reasons I love Craniosacral Therapy is that although I am doing the work, the work is always doing both myself and the client at a deeper level unleashing the healing potential.  There is no doing in it actually, but rather an opportunity to shift.
